COMMISSIONS
Commissioning a painting is a unique way of purchasing and personalising art. The process allows you to become fully engaged with the creation and development of a bespoke piece of artwork. Owning a piece of specially commissioned art is an enriching experience. Maybe you are interested in a piece that you have seen at an exhibition that has already sold; perhaps you may have a vision for a style, colour or size for a painting intended to be a focal point to a particular environment or room setting.
If you are considering commissioning a piece for the first time, it can be intimidating. But it can also be a fun and collaborative experience! Whether you have specific thoughts of what you want or need some help to clarify ideas, I can talk it through and create a brief for your bespoke painting. I will take you through the various stages of the process, including creative and administrative aspects, so that everything from size, timings and costs are clear from the outset.
I have taken commissions for paintings that can be found in homes, luxury yachts, private schools and offices around the world.

TESTIMONIAL
“How we commissioned our very own view of Norfolk’s beautiful coastline.”
BY NEDDA & DAVID OSBOURNE
Private commission, Norfolk
“We'd been looking for a painting for the drawing room wall of our North Norfolk house and happened to be out walking and spotted one of Henrietta's paintings in a London gallery. We ended up strolling on but the more we thought about the picture the more we liked it. Inevitably when we got around to going back to the gallery it had sold.
Kicking ourselves we tracked Henrietta down, met her in her studio and together came up with the idea of a commission as we felt she'd be able to capture the beautiful light and feeling of space of Norfolk's endless and continuously changing coastline.
Having pointed her in the direction of some of our favourite places she arranged a weekend stay at a nearby pub. Lockdown cruelly intervened and literally as she and her husband were checking in the prime minister was closing it down. Of course, we were very happy to step in and have them to stay.
We had a lovely weekend walking across wind swept marshes and beaches while Henrietta absorbed the atmosphere. A few months' later Henrietta had produced two great but contrasting pictures both of which capture the drama of the area with many glimpses of the places we walked that weekend and know so well. The only problem was having to choose the one to keep!”
